Salta La linda (“The Beautiful”) is a colonial city situated in the Northwest of Argentina and it borders three countries: Chile, Bolivia and Paraguay. The variety and beauty of its landscapes is spectacular: the magnificence of its mountains, its valleys, its gorges, the Puna and the subtropical flora and fauna preserved in the national parks, are just some of its attractions. In the city of Salta, and throughout the area surrounding it, there are plenty of sports and activities to keep all of its visitors busy. There are really two circuits, one South to Cachi, Cafayate and the ruins at Quilmes (3 days 2 nights) and one North passed the route of the Tren a las Nubes (train to the clouds) and taking in the Salinas Grandes (fabulous salt flats) to the ruins of Tilcara and the town of Humahuaca (2 days). Both are must do trips if you have at least 6 days to spare in Salta province and around (these circuits actually take you into Tucuman, Catamarca and Jujuy provinces as well).  If you have less time do one of them.
